Antony has publicly expressed his desire to leave Ajax after the Eredivise club rejected a €90m (£76m) bid from Manchester United.

The 22-year-old winger is United’s priority transfer target during the final week of the window but the Old Trafford club’s latest bid was rejected on Friday.

United had already seen a bid of €80m (£68m) rejected last week, with Ajax holding out for closer to their €100m asking price due to a lack of time to find a replacement.

It remains to be seen whether United increase their offer for the Brazil international. Cody Gakpo, the PSV Eindhoven winger, has been considered as an alternative if a deal for Antony is not considered possible.

Antony is nevertheless eager to reunite with his former manager Erik ten Hag and went public with his desire to move to Old Trafford in an interview with journalist Fabrizio Romano on Friday night.

“In June of this year, I interrupted my vacation and came personally to inform the managers of Ajax, including new coach, about my wish to leave and that they should consider this possibility, because it was a project for two seasons,” he said.

“During the window months, meetings continued and I also received a proposal from Ajax for contract renewal. I made it clear once again: I want to leave.

Antony added: “Today, in a meeting with the club, I expressed my old interest in leaving, only this time with a considerable offer on the table. Others had already arrived. Ajax refused with argument that they only have five days to replace me.

“I’m not asking Ajax to release me, I’m asking Ajax to sell me with the highest bid ever for Eredivisie player. I’ve been insisting

There’s arguably no place more transporting than the Las Vegas Strip. Within convenient walking distance of wherever you’re staying you’ll find the Eiffel Tower, Lago di Como and an Egyptian pyramid topped with a laser beam so bright you can see it from space. A visiting Italian friend, expecting to hate our Piazza San Marco, instead marveled at the novelty of experiencing it sans marauding pigeons.

Much of this began as schtick, of course, but the race to accommodate an increasingly well-traveled and cosmopolitan visitor has made the resorts along the three-mile stretch among the best luxury accommodations in the world, and at some of the most reasonable prices for travelers. Each resort provides a distinctly different travel experience; what’s good for you and all the kids is not ideal for a sexy weekend a deux, for instance. Perhaps you’re looking for the best luxury hotel overall, or you’re looking for a more authentic experience via a hotel with a 5-star location. No matter what’s on your agenda, here are the best hotels in Las Vegas for all kinds of vacationers.

Aug. 24 (UPI) — Disney+ on Wednesday shared a new trailer for its upcoming film Pinocchio, a live-action adaptation of the classic 1940s film by Walt Disney.

The trailer showed Tom Hanks in the starring role as Geppetto, a woodcarver who initially builds the puppet Pinocchio to raise as if he were real. However, when a mysterious fairy (Cynthia Erivo) brings Pinocchio to life, Geppetto’s dream of having his own son comes true.

“An almost real boy,” Geppetto says upon seeing Pinocchio come to life. It becomes evident that Pinocchio wants to be completely human, saying, “I want to be real.”

When Pinocchio is whisked away on a dangerous adventure, though, his new friends and family will be forced to embark on a journey after him.

The film is set to be released on Disney+ on Sept. 8, which is marketed as Disney+ Day and will see a large slate of premieres on the streaming platform.

Beyond Hanks and Erivo, a number of talented voice actors will be heard in the film.

This includes 13-year-old Benjamin Evan Ainsworth in the title role, along with Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket and Keegan Michael-Key as the antagonizing fox Honest John.

Beyond the talented voice cast, many of the songs from the original 1940 film will be heard on the soundtrack.

This includes “When You Wish Upon a Star,” which will be performed by Erivo. The tune has become known as The Walt Disney Company’s signature song, and has been used in the opening credits of Disney projects for decades.

Pinocchio was directed by Robert Zemeckis, known for his collaboration

How to use Google Drive as your virtual backpack (and why you should)

Google Drive on Computer

Image: Getty Images

Preparing for classes every semester can take a toll on your precious time and wallet. Since the pandemic, many classes have turned to hybrid or virtual formats, and even the over-priced textbooks have moved online. So why not do the same with your backpack? Ok, maybe not your physical backpack but its contents that can weigh you down while walking across campus?

While smart notebooks are great, they often have page limits and add sneaky extra stylus or subscription costs. Instead, you can go completely paperless by using Google Drive, the free Google-powered storage service that comes with your Gmail.

Having just graduated college, I’ll be the first to say that Google Drive has been a lifesaver. From the comfort of my laptop or phone, I was able to take notes for a majority of my classes, plan my week, and organize vital documents. Here’s how I did it and how you can, too.

1. Make folders for each class or club

Instead of investing in the folders that inevitably break from the weight of the papers you print and shove in the flimsy pockets, make a permanent Drive folder. Here’s how.

Step 1: Select “+ New”

To add anything to your drive, select the “+ New” button at the top left corner.

Once you’ve toggled the + New button, you’ll see a dropdown menu with the options to create new folders, files, forms, Sheets, Slides, and Docs. This is the creation process you’ll follow for any new information you want to add to your Google Drive. For now, let’s focus on folders, as they are the backbone of the virtual backpack.

Step 2: Create a new folder

First, I recommend naming your folders after your respective courses.

Family Vacation’ Last Night; Here’s Why

Before last night’s episode of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, “It’s Fine, I Work Here,” Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was fairly active on Twitter, tweeting using #JSFamilyVacation so the show would trend. However, the reality TV star had little to say while JSFV Season 5 Episode 22 aired. Here’s why.

‘The Situation’ and Angelina Pivarnick previously went at each other on social media

Earlier this season, Mike confronted Angelina Pivarnick about the evidence he had from Chris Larangeira and her “side piece” Joe “Old Bridge” Tarallo. Chris claimed Angelina leaked the speech from their wedding; “Old Bridge,” who fans will remember from the doorbell footage, alleged the timeline of their friendship was different from what Angelina told the roommates.

As the drama played out on television, Mike and Angelina took the conversation to social media. “She has the condition known as liabetes,” Mike commented on a post from the official Jersey Shore Instagram. “She lies more than she tells the truth and that’s facts. It is what it is.”

Angelina also commented on the post: “It’s pretty sad Mike didn’t come to me first to tell me my sabotaging scorned double life ex-husband was calling him and this was all happening behind my back.” However, during last night’s episode, the Jersey Shore stars shared minimal posts to social media.

Mike ‘The Situation’ is taking a break from social media

As revealed in the “Cruisin’” episode of Here’s the Sitch with Mike and Laurens, the reality star is taking a break from posting to social. “All these voices and all these opinions, they are negative a lot of the time,” Mike said of what happens online. “I’m taking a position right

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan announces sweeping player compensation package to combat LIV

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan held a news conference on Wednesday at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta on Wednesday.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan held a news conference on Wednesday at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta on Wednesday.

PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan announced a comprehensive player compensation plan Wednesday that will guarantee $500,000 per year to exempt players applied to their earnings, the addition of four more tournaments with elevated purses in addition to the 12 that were announced in June and doubling the number of players and amount of money for the Player Impact Program, which measures player engagement across media platforms.

Under the “Earnings Assurance Program,” which begins in 2023, rookies will receive the $500,000 upfront. If veterans fall below $500,000 in earnings, the Tour will compensate them for the shortfall.

The changes and other possible enhancements were discussed at a meeting last week in Wilmington, Del., with Tiger Woods and 22 other players in the BMW Championship. Rory McIlroy was at that meeting and he said the commissioner’s response is what the group anticipated.

Stone Ocean Receives Adorable Homage from Fate/Grand Order Artist

This September, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure will return to Netflix with new episodes of the Stone Ocean and Jolyne is set to be in quite the predicament. Before Jolyne Cujoh’s big comeback to the small screen, an animator for Fate/Grand Order’s anime took the opportunity to give us a new take on the daughter of Jotaro as she continues to try to escape from a maximum-security prison that is fit to bursting with Stand Users under the sway of Pucci the villainous priest.

When last we left Jolyne, she was in dire straits, attempting to not only clear her name and fight against the nefarious machinations of Pucci, but also save the life of her father who has had his memories and Stand stolen from him. With allies such as Foo Fighters and Ermes backing her up, expect the upcoming installments of the anime series on Netflix to throw some wild Stand battles her way. In the latest anime season, Jolyne was voiced by actor Ai Fairouz, who also will play a prominent role in the upcoming anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man as the devil, Power. 2022 is an amazing year for the voice actor to be sure.

Kuroboshi Kouhaku, an illustrator for the likes of Fate/Grand Order, Azur Lane, and Summon Night, shared their take on both Jolyne Cujoh and her Stand, Stone Free, as the sixth season of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is readying to return to Netflix on September 1st of next month:

Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez’s parents travel from Cuba to see son play for the first time

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

When Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez stepped up to the plate in the first inning Tuesday night, he had three extra special guests cheering for him.

Fresh after arriving from Cuba, his father, Agustín Eduardo Álvarez Salazar, teary-eyed mother Mailyn Cadogan Reyes and brother Yonder Alvarez Cadogan each proudly wore a No 44 Alvarez jersey as they gazed wide-eyed at the field, watching the Houston star play professionally for the first time.

“This is one of my biggest moments in my entire life,” his father told The Associated Press in Spanish through a translator. “And I could be able to say so many words, but the truth is that there are no words to express what I’m feeling right now.”

His son did his part, too, getting an early hit as the AL West leaders beat Minnesota 4-2.

To be at Minute Maid Park to see Alvarez play for the first time in his fourth major league season was a long and arduous operation that involved many roadblocks.

“It was an extensive process to get here,” Salazar said. “We’ve had to go through a lot of difficulties to get here today.”

Despite those struggles, the family never lost hope that they’d make it to see their son play in the majors. They arrived on Friday.

“It never crossed our minds that we were not going to be able to be here,” his father said. “We know that in order to make things happen we have to confront difficulties and that’s why we’re here today.”

McMaster and sponsors celebrate law giving state employees up to 6 weeks paid parental leave | Palmetto Politics

COLUMBIA — Gov. Henry McMaster celebrated a new law providing state employees up to six weeks of paid parental leave while its sponsors promised to push for more next year.

“This is a great step forward,” McMaster said Aug. 25 at the Statehouse, surrounded by advocates who helped get the legislation to his desk.

“Having strong families, of course, is key to our success in the future,” he added. “Mommas and daddies need to be with their babies as much as they can.”

The event marked a ceremonial signing of a bill he actually set into law in May.

Effective Oct. 1, it provides six weeks of paid leave to state employees who give birth or become parents by adopting a child under 18. The spouse who doesn’t give birth or — in the case of adoption, the parent who’s not the primary care provider — can take two weeks off with pay. Parents who foster a child in state custody can also take two weeks paid leave.

Florence 1 becomes first SC school district to offer paid parental leave

Parents can still take up to 12 weeks off, as allowed under a 1993 federal law, but the rest of the time would be unpaid. Currently, employees must use up their accrued vacation and sick days before taking unpaid leave. The new law doesn’t require using those days.

As initially passed overwhelmingly by the S.C. House of Representatives last year, the legislation guaranteed 12 weeks of paid leave to each parent. But the Senate cut the maximum weeks in half and differentiated between mother and father, biological and foster children.

Sen. Darrell Jackson, D-Columbia, said the compromise was necessary to get a vote in the Senate, which passed the amended bill unanimously in March. For reluctant senators, he said, it was a matter of money.
